WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, the big news was yesterday’s Legends Camp. We had tons of information including a notebook off the day’s action.

And we continue to look at the huge official visit weekend for Miami with our storylines to follow item you can read all about. Sunday morning we’ll have you covered with feedback off the visits, so be sure to tune back in for that.

Now let’s get back to Legends Camp, and start at the beginning. First we had your introductions from the legends … including which Miami Hurricanes legends were there and what they said.

On hand? One of the biggest came as a surprise to many as (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Joshisa Trader was on hand for the day’s event. He shared why he came, how it went and where things stand.

Another big 2024 name on campus: Lake Cormorant (Miss.) 2024 four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin. He explains why he wanted to return for Legends Camp after taking his official visit to Miami earlier in the month.

As far as the former greats at the camp, we caught up with former Miami Hurricanes OL great Bryant McKinnie. Don’t miss what he had to say about Mario Cristobal and more.

Also be sure to check out the interview with General Manager of Football Operations Alonzo Highsmith from Legends Camp. He had some great insight.

Plus there was Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong both going in the second round of last night’s NBA Draft, so you can read all about that as well.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

TWEETS OF THE DAY

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Offense helping the defense discussion … Posted by Clevelandcane

Here’s the path forward for UM this season; it’s by the offense improving overall. This may sound obvious but a lesser discussed benefit of the O playing well is that the D will naturally improve right along with it. That doesn’t work in reverse which means the O HAS to improve for UM to win more. The same can’t be said for the D.

When the O stays on the field, doesn’t turn the ball over, lacks penalties, and moves the ball consistently the defense can rest and usually feeds off the excitement.

The O scoring motivates the D to do their job. The two just work together that much better when the O is even solid. When you have a totally inept O like UM had last year the defense figures why even bother. The O can’t score then the team can’t win.

So while all this may be obvious I thought it was worth mentioning and am interested in hearing others’ thoughts on the subject.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I enjoy being here, the people. I wanted to come down here, work with (NFL Hall of Famer and Miami DL coach) Jason Taylor, just see how he coached me, if he can take my game to the next level, see what I’d learn from him.”
