WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Miami had a first round pick come off the board in last night’s NBA Draft, so you can read all about that including reaction from Kyshawn George.

CaneSport also continues its State of The U series with a closer position by position look, unfiltered and objective, based on what Miami has returning, the projections and whether this will be an improved unit or not. Today’s focus: The defensive backs, where there are some depth concerns.

There’s also our continuing analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Check out our closer look at No. 3, Damien Martinez. Is he a lock for 1,000 rushing yards?

There’s plenty of recruiting news as well, starting with the latest commitment last night from Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan. We brought you that breaking news plus an inside analysis of what he brings to the table for the Canes.

More recruiting news:

Miami four-star quarterback commit Luke Nickel may not have won MVP at last week’s Elite11 competition, but the 2025 Hurricane pledge still turned plenty of heads. We have some interesting feedback on his play.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Team Leaders Rushing, Receiving, Sacks, Picks? … Posted by SpongerCane

Bain – 8.5 sacks

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I thought he threw the ball well, threw with accuracy and good arm strength, and I thought it was just a really solid showing. He was in our top 11 every day and was in the middle of that top pack every day. Within his throwing motion, I think he does a great job getting the ball up and out. He kind of holds the ball higher than a lot of these guys, but he has a high release point and gets the ball out really consistently.”
