WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Don’t miss all the recruiting news coming out of a busy official visit weekend. We have all that covered for you, catching up with prospects on the trip that included JUCO DB Demetrius Freeney, DL Wyatt Gilmore and Kamarion Franklin, LB James Nesta and WRs Dre’lon Miller and Jerrae Hawkins. So be sure to check out those updates.
Of course, there also was the Miami baseball team coverage, with the team battling but ultimately seeing the season end to Texas last night. Plus Jim Martz took a look back at the history of The Light with an eye on this year’s regional.
Then there’s more recruiting updates in addition to the official visitors.
One was with a Sunday 4-star Miami summer camp attendee out of Boynton Beach (Fla.) Somerset Canyons, Class of 2025 standout Waden Charles. We catch up with him for his thoughts after working out at Miami.
Another was with a huge priority, 5-star area WR Jeremiah Smith. Is Miami making headway with the Ohio State commit? He updated the latest.
We also had a story on Miami’s first commitment of the cycle, PK Abram Murray. He’s set his Miami official visit date but has an SEC team still chasing him. So find out about that situation.
There’s also an update with 2024 Allen (Tex.) four-star EDGE Zina Umeozulu. He is down to nine schools, and the Miami Hurricanes are among that group, which features the likes of Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas, Oregon, USC, SMU, and Georgia. Get his thoughts.
Plus we catch up with Riverhead (N.Y.) St. Anthony’s 2024 four-star tight end KJ Duff, an On300 prospect. He is thinking about taking an official visit to Miami in late June.

A player who has set that OV to Miami? A top target: Northport (Al.) Tuscaloosa County 2024 four-star running back Kevin Riley. He will take an official visit to Miami June 16, joining five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star linebacker Elias Rudolph (and others) in visiting Coral Gables that weekend.
We also have the latest with 5 recruits that we feel Miami’s in a good spot to land. So don’t miss that closer look.
This morning we also have a really interesting new feature for you looking at the three games we see as most pivotal for the football team this coming season. And, shocker, we aren’t listing FSU or Clemson among those. Find out why.
CaneSport also continues to count down the top 50 post-spring players on the roster, a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. You can check out our most recent breakdowns on No. 20 Andy Borregales, No. 19 Nyjalik Kelly and No. 18 Jahfari Harvey.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
“All the commits are going to be there with me (for a June 23-25 official visit), and we’re all on a group chat on Instagram – it’s going to be really exciting. Coach Cristobal wants us to all go that same weekend, 23rd to 25th. It’ll be good to build that bond with each other. And that helps with comfort as well.”
