WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Well, there was the commitment last night of Demetrius Freeney, another transfer addition to a cornerback room that needs all the talent and depth it can get. We had a preview of the decision with Freeney and a story after he announced.
Then in baseball there was the shakeup at the top of the baseball program with Gino DiMare out after not reaching Super Regionals for five years. You can read about that as well as Jim Martz’s column dissecting the situation.
There also was yesterday’s Mario Cristobal camp that drew several top prospects. We have an update with Booker T. 4-star Ben Hanks Jr. and also caught up with his cousin and teammate and fellow 4-star Antonio Branch, Jr. Both are strongly favored by the RPM to become Hurricanes, so don’t miss what they are talking about.
We also catch up with FSU commit Jamorie Flagg out of Booker T. He was at the Cristobal camp and tells us he has not closed the door just yet on any other programs that have continued to pursue him, including the Miami Hurricanes. So read about that, too.
And this morning we have a big picture view of a huge upcoming official visit weekend for Miami, so be sure to check that out. We have more individual interviews with the official visitors leading into it as well.
One is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei 2024 four-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland. He is coming in this weekend, and he shares his thoughts.
Then there’s Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman 2024 tight end Elija Lofton. He will be one of six four-star prospects to take an official visit to Miami this weekend, and his recruitment is heating up between the Hurricanes and other top-tier programs. He talks about that.

Another 4-star that will be on campus is Aiken (SC) WR Braylon Staley. He is no longer considering Clemson after the Tigers became satisfied with their receiver haul this season, he told CaneSport, which has caused Miami to shoot into his top 2. He breaks things down.
Theodore (Al.) 2024 linebacker Cam Pruitt has Miami high on his list heading into his official visit this weekend, and the Hurricanes have made it clear they hope to improve their standing with the popular prospect during his weekend stay in Coral Gables. His take?
Miami is battling its in-state rivals for Oviedo (Fla.) 2024 offensive tackle Tye Hylton, a recruit viewed with substantial upside, and he has a tentative commitment timeline as he prepares for his official visit to Coral Gables this weekend. Find out about that.
Miami is also continuing to look for potential immediate-impact transfers like San Mateo (Calif.) College four-star cornerback Sione Laulea in the 2024 recruiting class, even though Laulea won’t be ready to enroll until January 2024 with the rest of the high school recruits in this year’s cycle. He’s friends and teammates with another Miami target who is expected to announce today, Demetrius Freeney.
And yes, we also have an update with Freeney heading into his announcement, so don’t miss that.
Plus we continue to count down the top 50 post-spring players on the roster, a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. Today we break down No. 14, RB Henry Parrish.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
How many games does Miami win this year and why … cast your vote! … Posted by 6882
We just brought on a great recruiting class that’ll have a little experience by the time injuries start racking up. We also have albeit space fillers a lot more depth/transfer guys this year than last that don’t necessarily add to quality but mask injuries a little more than the glaring holes that we had last year. At times it really did feel like there were only fifteen scholarship guys last year.
MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
“They think I could be a game changer. They’re really (excited) about getting me down there, they’re really (excited) about everything they’re saying. It seems to me like everything is real genuine — genuine interest, genuine love, and they’ve just been telling me they can really use me down there.”
