WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

It starts with our closer look at the roster Mario Cristobal has put together … and it’s very much his team now. Are the classes getting stacked the right way, with a high amount of talent? We look to answer that question.

Along those same lines we dive into the depth situations on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball … and you’ll see there are some good situations, and then some not-so-great depth situations.

Plus we wrap up our analysis of the top 50 roster players, giving insight onto this team’s talent level and depth. Yes, we finally hit No. 1 and that top honor goes to Cam Ward. But is the hype realistic or not? Check out our closer look at his game. And then we jump right into our next series. Where our top 50 was based on each player’s talent level combined with experience/past production, we now are running our Player Performance Index feature. That looks at the top 30 guys on the roster based on what we see for them this coming season, and you can see that whole list this morning. In the days ahead we will also break down each of the players, including projecting his 2024 results.

We’re also taking a closer look at some more impartial outside expectations for this Miami team, so this morning we are breaking down everything Lindy’s had to say about UM v. 2024 and the magazine’s projections for the Canes. Does that match up with how you think the team will do?

There’s more recruiting news for you, too, including the news from Friday that Herbert Scroggins was a commitment – we broke that down with analysis and had the breaking news for you on that.

We were on hand with coverage from the Under Armour Future 50 as well, including a notebook covering the top Miami targets there. We also had individual updates on them, including with the nation’s No. 1 ranked player regardless of position, defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart. He is set for a return Miami visit and updates where things stand. We catch up with others at the event that for the latest with them and Miami as well: Reidsville (N.C.) five-star tight end Kendre Harrison shares his thoughts on the Canes and he visited recently; Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day class of 2026 athlete DJ Williams has remained high on the Hurricanes; 2026 Winter Park (Fla.) four-star safety Ayden Pouncey calls Miami his dream school; and Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit has begun to establish himself as one of the top pass catchers in the country.

Then there were more recruiting updates as well.

The Miami Hurricanes are wasting no time making Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star cornerback Brody Jennings feels like a priority target in the 2026 class, and he shares where things stand heading into a visit later this month. We also catch up with 2026 Pflugerville (Tex.) Weiss three-star offensive lineman Jerald Mays, who has an offer and the Miami Hurricanes on his mind. A recruit that’s very high on Miami is Venice (Fla.) four-star 2026 athlete Asharri Charles. When he first received his offer from the Miami Hurricanes in the spring, he was nearly ready to pull the trigger and commit. Find out where things stand now. Plus we catch up with 2026 Mater Dei (Cali.) EDGE Shaun Scott. His bond with Miami has begun to grow in recent weeks.  Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View four-star wide receiver Jordon Gidron also shares where Miami fits into his picture. And there’s an update with Ezekiel Marcelin reflecting on his Miami commitment as well.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Don’t sleep on Elija Lofton … Posted by cortez55403

I think Lofton is gonna play a lot: inline TE; Slot TE, HB and RB. His situation is nothing like Ray Ray Joseph last year where he was expected to get the ball a lot in Year 1 and then didn’t. Ray Ray was a slot not up to the experience of Xavier Restrepo. In contrast, Lofton can catch short, medium and even long passes. He can block very effectively. And, he’s a touchdown machine running near the goal line.

Coaches need to use his versatility and his playmaking. I followed his career at Gorman. Among their stud players, he was the best.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The relationship is going well, and they’re showing me mad love. They make me feel like a top priority, and I will be down there later this summer. Talking to coach Mike Rumph and coach Chevis Jackson makes me feel like a priority, and they want me really bad. Overall the relationship is really good.”
