WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Well, stay tuned later today for the first “regular season” media availabilities. Every Monday before games we’ll hear from Mario Cristobal and coordinators Kevin Steele and Josh Gattis. So stay tuned for that.
To hold you over till then? Well, we have quite a bit of content.
This morning there are a couple of interesting updates. The first is on high priority LB prospect Jordan Hall, who says there’s something in particular that is separating Miami from the pack right now. And we also have a closer look at why the real Leonard Taylor needs to step up in the middle of the Miami Hurricanes’ defense. There’s also an update with Jahmile Addae talking about the DB group, with some insight from Avantae Williams as well.
From over the weekend?
A lot more news.
In recruiting we caught up with another high priority target in this year’s class, RB Christopher Johnson, Jr. Is he any closer to making a decision and does Miami remain the team to beat? We also have an interview with a key name to know at Miami Edison, WR Brandon Lowe. There are updates with coaches Frank Ponce and Charlie Strong that you don’t want to miss. And we also have the thoughts of several players with game 1 almost here: Gil Frierson, Al Blades and Jahfari Harvey weigh in.

TWEETS OF THE DAY
MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
Breaking Down the Canes Schedule … Posted by Dalew2009
– Bethune Cookman: Win. No conversation needed.
– Southern Miss – Win. No conversation needed.
– Texas A&M – Loss. I am still not sure the offensive line is ready to compete with their SEC defensive line and I think this is the difference in the game. With that said, Miami has the better QB and with a turnover or 2 anything can happen.
– Middle Tennessee State: Win. No conversation needed.
– UNC: Win. UNC has been a throne in the side of UM the last few years. But they lost a lot of production on offense and their defense was terrible. With that said, they have some guys on that defense who can play and Gene Chizik could be a difference maker on defense. With that being said, the huge coaching gap that existed between Mack Brown and Manny Diaz is gone and Miami is more talented. I think this could be a close game until the fourth with Miami pulling away and winning by 10 or more.
– Virginia Tech: Win. I just don’t have any faith in Virginia Tech. I think they are terrible. With that being said, it is in Blacksburgh, which can be a huge deal. I still think Miami wins this game pretty handily.
– Duke: Win. No conversation needed. One of the worst FBS teams in the country.
– UVA: Win. This is a game I am very concerned about. A road game against a decent team with a good QB right before you play your arch rival. This is a game that I can definitely see Miami losing if they go up there thinking they are going to just walk in there and win. With that being said, I just think Miami is more talented and pull this game out.
– FSU: Win. We are better than them and I don’t think Mario will allow this team to lose to FSU. I think we go on a run here against FSU as our recruiting continues to improve and FSU continues to struggle some.
– Georgia Tech: Win. Just a bad team. Probably playing with an interim head coach at this point.
– Clemson: Loss. Similar to Texas A&M, I don’t think we are ready to compete on the lines with these teams yet. I think we will struggle to run the football, and my concerns about the WR position has been well documents.
– Pittsburgh: This is the game, in my opinion that will define the season. Win this game and I think we are 10-2, Coastal champs with another crack at Clemson. Lose this game and you could be 9-3 and on the outside looking in if Pittsburgh has a good year, which I expect them to. With all that being said, at this point the team will have a full spring and a full season under Mario and staff’s coaching. I think we win this game.
I am predicting 10-2, a Coastal title and a trip to Charlotte. With that being said, this team could just as easily lose to a Virginia and Pitt and end up 8-4 if a couple of things go there way. If the O-line is better than I think they will be, the defense is as strong as is being discussed from fall camp, and a WR really steps up maybe we get fortunate and have a special season, beating either Clemson or Texas A&M.
What do you all think?
MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Miami, they are recruiting me the hardest right now. No one is more on top of it than Miami. It’s an everyday thing. … That helps with me a lot, to know people care about you. It plays a big part of the recruitment.”
