WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Stay tuned tonight for The Lamar Thomas Show at 8 p.m., which promises – as always – to be informative and entertaining.

And if you missed CaneSport Live last night, it’s not too late to tune in as Gary Ferman and Matt Shodell talked all things Canes with fans.

Be sure to check out all the feedback coming out of practice yesterday with players, and stay tuned for more later this morning including QB Cam Ward’s thoughts.

Plus there’s our feature on Miami Hurricanes in the NFL and how they performed, including highlights.

In recruiting?

It starts with the big news that five-star DL Elijah Griffin is expected to make a return visit to Miami this weekend. Get the latest there.

We also have your coach’s take on Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep three-star offensive tackle and Miami commit Demetrius Campbell, so learn more about what UM has there.

Plus we have updates on a couple of visitors for the game Saturday. The first is with Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit. He was on hand at Hard Rock Stadium to watch the Canes season opener and was very impressed with everything that he saw. There’s also an update with Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star receiver and Canes commit Malachi Toney, who is loving what he has seen from Miami early on.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

A Lot Of Thoughts About The FAMU Game … Posted by advarkas

On one hand, a lot of sloppy play first half. Absurd penalties. Fielding a punt at the 1 yard line while coffin cornered. Blown coverages in the secondary. Inability to dominate the run game. Sacks on Cam Ward. 8 penalties.

A far cry from the clean, crisp, play against Florida.

Then again, the team won by 45+ points, I thought Mario lit a fire under their arse at halftime, and then came out much more focused in the 2nd Half. Team was 8/12 on 3rd Down. 550 toal yards. Poff got in some good reps. 0 turnovers. No major injuries. Defense had 5 sacks.

So, in the end, it was a dominating performance, and was always going to be tough to match the intensity and focus from a week ago.

All on a weekend where Notre Dame lost, and several ranked teams struggled with mediocre competition.

Looking forward to Ball State – another good game to clean up some areas, re-focus the team, and get a lot of different guys good reps.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I try to be a well-rounded player, don’t want to be known as somebody that just rushes the quarterback. I want to be known as a great defensive player, not a one-trick pony.”
