WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, the transfer portal second window is open and we have a closer look at what positions Miami may target. There’s also our new message board mania item titled “Should Miami Add a WR in the Portal or Trust Young Talent?” Find out why perhaps that isn’t as clear an argument as you may think.

A portal option for Miami at WR is slot Trebor Pena out of Syracuse. We break down that situation.

And a safety who is going in the portal tells CaneSport he’s very serious about the Canes and will be considering them. That’s Florida Gators transfer Gregory Smith III, who played there under now-Miami safeties coach Will Harris. Find out about that.

There’s also our projected defensive depth chart coming out of spring ball you don’t want to miss, including analysis.

In recruiting?

We break down where things stand with the key WR recruiting going on for Miami, with a lot of guys targeted. Who is UM trending well with?

Another update: Miami (Fla.) Northwestern four-star Hurricanes linebacker commit Jordan Campbell is the Canes’ longest-tenured pledge in the 2026 class, but that isn’t keeping other programs from shooting their shot with the No. 104 overall prospect and No. 6 linebacker. Get the latest there.

Plus the UM baseball team beat FAU, 5-4, and you can read the recap of that.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

RB position gonna be wild … Posted by Schnellys stache

We will not miss Chris Johnson. Pringle can ball. Lyle is a handful, we know what Fletcher can do. Then throw in Wheatley. This is gonna be explosive.

Not sure if Martinez will prove more efficient but this is gonna be more burst and big plays. If 3 of 4 hit second level it’s peace out!

Curious if Fletcher can be as effective in short yardage as Martinez.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Coach Hetherman’s great. We kicked it off to a good start. The first couple of days he got there I was on his phone. He was making sure I’m wanted here and making sure I was going to be the best of the best of myself. Coach Hetherman’s really invested in me right now. He’s showing me things I could do in his defense and how I can be a successful linebacker here.”

Commit Jordan Campbell, on Corey Hetherman
