Haley Cavinder decides to play another year of college basketball in 2024-25, now question is if it will be in Miami
Let the bidding war begin. At least that’s what you have to assume will happen now that Haley Cavinder, who transferred from Fresno State to Miami prior to last season and starred with 12.2 point and 4.9 rebounds per game, has decided to play another year of college basketball.
Haley has entered the transfer portal, per multiple reports, and will weigh all her options, including a return to UM. Cavinder has 2,065 career points (19th among active players) and made 65 three-pointers last season.
Cavinder is expected to command a major NIL deal at the program of her choice given her social media presence. Along with twin sister Hanna, they have 4.5 million TikTok followers and 307,000 Instagram followers. Wherever Haley lands, she’s sure to put fans in the stands.
As a graduate senior she isn’t bound by the one-time transfer rule, and she plans to be back on the court for 2024-25.

Certainly the Canes could use her back. Haley had announced she was leaving UM because her sister was not planning to play another season and she wanted them to play together (Hanna was a backup who played sparingly and averaged 3.7 PPG). Ultimately, Haley has decided to go it alone for one more year.
Haley and Hanna also have made waves for their potential WWE future – they signed NIL deals there starting in 2021.

Last season the 5-6 guard helped Miami to a 22-13 season and an NCAA run to the Elite Eight, a first in program history. Along the way the No. 9 seeded Canes beat top seed Indiana before falling to eventual national champion LSU, 54-42.
So now the wait is on to see if a Cavinder will again be playing for Miami in 2024-25.
