Kaleb Spencer is ready to experience being a Miami Hurricane this weekend.

Spencer, a 2023 Miami three-star linebacker signee who will play safety for the Canes, will take his official visit to Miami this weekend after signing the first day of the Early Signing Period Dec. 21. His official visit gives him one final chance to experience life as a recruit before he moves into his on-campus dorm Sunday.

“Just (want) to better get to know the campus, build more and better relationships and enjoy and take everything in before I move in,” Spencer said when asked what he hoped to get out of his official visit this weekend.

Like teammate Frankie Tinilau, another 2023 Miami signee who will take his official visit this weekend, Spencer wants to take the opportunity to savor the moment before starting life as a college student. The 6-foot-2 1/2, 215-pound recruit from Virginia was the country’s No. 76 linebacker and the No. 17 recruit in Virginia, according to the On3 Consensus.

Spencer took an unofficial visit to Miami Oct. 8, but did not take an official visit to any school during his recruitment.

“I think I will mentally and physically (be better able to enjoy the visit),” Spencer said. “Being done with the recruitment process, and then my last time coming (to Miami) was right off an injury. (I was) barely able to shake people’s hands.”

But Spencer will be ready to shake plenty of hands during his Miami visit, which begins Friday and runs through the weekend. He and Tinilau will also be joined by 2023 three-star linebacker signee Marcellius Pullium. Spencer expects a “typical official visit” and wants to enjoy a free experience with his family.

He’s excited to see his future teammates and better interact with them during the visit.

“(We’re going to) continue to build that brotherhood that’s going to change the program!” Spencer said.

CaneSport’s Take

Huge congratulations to Spencer and all of Miami’s 2023 signees taking their official visits to Coral Gables this weekend. This weekend-long experience is a moment the trio should savor as they enjoy life as high school recruits one final time before beginning the grind of the college level.
