Since receiving his offer from the Miami Hurricanes this past summer, Orlando (Fla.) Jones three-star wide receiver Larry Miles has been no stranger to Coral Gables and was back on campus this weekend.

With new offers continuing to roll in for the rising pass catcher, the Canes have remained near the top of Miles’ list for a handful of reasons. One of the biggest ones is his relationship with Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, who he was happy to see during his time on campus.

“I was excited to see my guy KB,” Miles said. “He’s definitely the realest coach out there.”

While Beard has done a great job of keeping the Hurricanes in the mix, Miami’s offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has also gotten involved in Miles’ recruitment as of late. Last Friday Dawson sat down with both Miles and 2026 UM commit Dereon Coleman for an extensive amount of time which meant a lot to both prospects.

“It was really good getting to sit down and talk with coach Dawson,” Miles said. “We were talking about stuff off the field for the most part. We weren’t really talking about football, which was really great. That was amazing and is what I’m really looking for in a coach. He really likes Dereon and how we do well together. He likes my route running, catching, and everything.”

Along with Miami, Miles, who is the No. 492 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, says Pitt, West Virginia, and Syracuse have also been in consistent contact since the start of the new year.

“My recruitment is going well, and a lot of schools are hitting me up every day,” Miles said. “I’m just slowly seeing what I want to do.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder plans on announcing his commitment later this summer on June 15. He says that development and genuine relationships will play the biggest factors in that final decision.

“I want to commit on June 15, which is my birthday,” Miles said. “The biggest thing will be the coaching and just how a school makes me feel.”

CaneSport’s Take

This weekend there wasn’t a more productive wide receiver at Battle Miami than Miles. Right now, the Hurricanes are one of his top schools and have a great shot of landing the Sunshine State pass catcher, who we believe will rise in the recruiting rankings and become a four-star prospect by the end of the spring.
