University of Miami head men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced Thursday the signing of Lynn Kidd, a 6-foot-10, 235-pound 4/5 with one year of eligibility remaining.

Kidd comes to Miami after spending the past three seasons at Virginia Tech. In 2023-24, Kidd averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game, while shooting a team-best 66.8 percent from the field. His .668 field goal percentage currently ranks first among ACC players and is 11 percent better than the next player.

“We are extremely happy to have Lynn join us because he is an incredibly gifted offensive scorer around the basket and who I considered the most improved player in the ACC this past season,” head coach Jim Larrañaga said. “He has put in the work to take his game to the next level. His work ethic is unmatched and he will bring maturity and four years of ACC experience to our team.”

Kidd joins a team with an uncertain starting lineup for next season, as Miami will return guard Nijel Pack but is waiting to hear on the status of other starters Norchad Omier, Matthew Cleveland and Kyshawn George.

As for Kidd?

He more than doubled his scoring output from 2022-23 (5.0) and became a full-time starter for the Hokies this season, totaling five double-doubles and 24 double-digit outings.

His progress was noted as the Gainesville, Fla., native finished third in voting (12 votes) for the ACC’s Most Improved Player honor.
