Miami Hurricanes have a new TE coach, with Cody Woodiel taking over
The Miami Hurricanes added new coaches throughout the offseason, including a pair of coordinators in Lance Guidry and Shannon Dawson.
And Miami also will have a new tight ends coach.
Cody Woodiel, who was a senior quality control analyst at UM after previously serving as an offensive analyst at Oregon, is taking over that role with Stephen Field expected to take an off-field role for the program.
Along with Oregon, Woodiel had prior stops as an analyst at Charlotte and Troy … and he played college football at Troy. Woodiel also ccoached offensive line at Murray State.
Woodiel, of course, has ties to Mario Cristobal from their time together at Oregon. He joined Cristobal there in 2017, first serving as an offensive graduate assistant.
From 2014-16 he spent three years coaching the offensive line coach at Itawamba Community College (Miss.). In 2016, Itawamba was third in the country (NJCAA) with 565 yards per game and 36.1 points per game.

Before joining Oregon from ICC, Woodiel was hired at Murray State as the offensive line coach and was there from December to March before coming to Oregon. Prior to his time at ICC, Woodiel spent two years at Troy.
A native of Hernando, Miss., Woodiel split time between tackle, guard and tight end for two seasons at Troy (2011-12). He was selected to play in the Casino Del Sol all-star game after starting all 12 games and playing 800 snaps for the Trojans as a senior. That season, the Troy offensive line finished 25th in the NCAA, allowing just 1.25 sacks per game.
Woodiel will coach a Miami tight ends room that lost Will Mallory to graduation but returns some proven talent in Elijah Arroyo and Jaleel Skinner. The team also added 8th year TE Cam McCormick in the transfer portal out of Oregon, and McCormick is currently the first team tight end in spring drills with Arroyo out injured.
