The Miami Hurricanes have added another running back to the class.

And he’s one of the best in the nation.

Northport (Al.) Tuscaloosa County four-star running back Kevin Riley, the No. 5 running back in the 2024 class and No. 80 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, has announced his commitment to Miami.

He is now the highest rated player in the class.

Riley visited Miami this past weekend and was wowed.

“Personally, it’s the people and the support that they’ve got at Miami – it’s awesome,” Riley said. “The people there are amazing.

“Miami is a great school.”

Miami beat out Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Auburn to land him.

He joins fellow RB commit Chris Wheatley-Humphrey in the class, giving Miami a couple of bigtime playmakers for the future in the offensive backfield.

Riley says Miami coaches “let me know that I’m their No. 1 priority.”

“It’s not just like they’re telling me, they’re showing me that and trying to prove it to me too,” he said. “And I trust them with that.”

Riley first landed the Miami offer back in November, and the 6-2, 192-pounder’s had the Canes full court press on ever since.

“(RB coach Tim) Harris is a real cool dude,” Riley said.

Riley is the No. 81 overall prospect and No. 5 running back in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Miami’s 2024 class now contains 12 players. It is led by Riley, Lofton and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson. Both Riley and Robinson are ranked in the top 125 of the On3 Industry Ranking. Riley’s pledge elevated the Hurricanes’ group five spots to No. 21 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, as well as No. 3 in the ACC. Before his commitment, Miami ranked No. 26 in the country and No. 4 in the ACC.

CaneSport’s take

This is a major addition to the class, a bona fide future star who is considered one of the nation’s elite recruits. The new Shannon Dawson offense should be clicking on the field this season, and you can already start to see it clicking now in this recruiting class as well. He and Chance Robinson are now the two highly rated 4-stars in the class.
