Miami Hurricanes Land Massive 6-6 OL Zaquan Linton from Palm Beach Central: "Always a Cane Fan"

It was on June 22 that a massive young man shined bright at the Miami Hurricanes summer camp. A 6-6, 293-pounder, Class of 2027 OT Zaquan Linton quickly opened up the eyes of UM coaches Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal.
“They loved him, and they really loved his footwork, he has really good feet,” Linton’s coach at Palm Beach Central High School, Kevin Thompson, recalls.
A Miami offer came after the camp, one of about 20 Linton’s picked up. And Linton was pretty sure after he got it that he’d take it. He grew up in New York, moving to Florida in second grade, and always was a Cane fan.
Now, a little over two weeks removed from that camp, Linton has made it official and committed to Miami, announcing the decision on Tuesday night.
Among his other options: Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri and Syracuse.
“Zaquan is one of the humblest kids I ever coached in my career, awesome kid, great family,” Thompson told CaneSport. “The kid is talented, man. He’s a former basketball player, moves really well for somebody of that size. He’s a leader, guy who wants to lead and loves the weight room.”

The coach says Linton was surprised by all the offers that have poured in, but he stuck true to what he always told everyone – that if Miami offered he’d win up there.
“At that camp Mirabal loved him and Cristobal loved him and he went home and called me, talked to his mom, his circle and I said `It’s your decision,’” Thompson said.
Now he’s made that decision.
And Miami’s won out.
CaneSport’s Take
It’s very early of course, and Miami will keep working to make sure he sticks. He has not yet been rated by On3, but we can see him being a 4-star, and also keep in mind that he’s lost weight and his normal playing weight is 305. Linton has a huge upside and we all know that Mirabal and Cristobal know OL talent. So this is a great early pickup.
