Miami Hurricanes release long-awaited depth chart ... and it has some surprises
The Miami Hurricanes declined to release an official depth chart … until now. With the Florida game just an hour away it came out, and there were some surprises on there.
One of the biggest was kept quiet by coaches, and that’s Akheem Mesidor working primarily at defensive tackle. He had an outstanding fall camp and previously was a tackle at West Virginia and worked in there a bit since he arrived at UM two years ago. He and Simeon Barrow (backed by CJ Clark) are the starting DTs with Rueben Bain and Tyler Baron starting at end (Mesidor is also a second team end).

Also a surprise is CB Daryl Porter Jr. listed at STAR, which can double as nickel in Lance Guidry’s system. The starting corners are Damari Brown, true freshman OJ Frederique and Jadais Richard, with Marshall transfer D’yoni Hill settling into a backup role.
Among them: Ryan Rodriguez and Matthew McCoy remain an “or” at left guard, perhaps a combination of Rodriguez stepping up and McCoy reportedly being a little banged up in fall camp.

The backup at center is true freshman Nino Francavilla; the starter is, of course, Indiana transfer Zach Carpenter.
At QB, no surprise, Emory Williams and Reese Poffenbarger are co-second teamers, and at running back almost the whole depth chart is an “or” behind Damien Martinez.
