Following a standout performance at Mario Cristobal’s camp on Thursday, the Miami Hurricanes became the latest program to offer fast-rising 2025 Miami (Fla.) Norland ATH Darryll Desir.

“It felt great getting that offer from Miami because this is home,” Desir told CaneSport. “I feel excited because I’ve always wanted a Miami offer.”

Extending the offer to the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder was Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, who closely watched him play throughout the day’s camp and was thoroughly impressed with what he saw.

“It was a long conversation, and then he told me,” Desir said. “He was talking about how Miami is a great fit for me and how I dominated the camp today. I really like him; he’s a really good guy.”

After offering Desir, Miami joins a growing list of Power 5 programs that have offered the South Florida native, including Big 10 and Big 12 programs in Illinois, Maryland, Cincinnati, and UCF. Out of all of the programs that have offered Desir, he feels the strongest connection with the Hurricanes early on in his recruiting process.

“I don’t know how to really explain it, but just being in this environment makes me feel like I’m at home,” Desir said.

Shortly after receiving the offer, Desir’s head coach at Miami Norland, Daryle Heidelburg, congratulated him with excitement and explained to CaneSport what makes the rising sophomore a special talent.

“Darryl is a freak of nature,” Heidelburg said. “He has very good mobility for his size and he’s a humble kid. I think what Miami liked the most is that he’s just scratching his surface.”

Heidelburg also explained how Desir’s recent position change from wide out to defensive end has helped his recruitment pick up and how the move has translated to success on the gridiron thus far.

“He played offense before now he’s excelling at defense,” Heidelburg said. “Prior to defensive line he played wide receiver so maybe some of those drills helped with his coordination. But when you transfer to d-line and grow another two inches, put another 15 pounds on, no more wide receiver.”

With the Hurricanes offer now on the table, Desir wants to get back on campus during the fall to take in practice and a game day experience as he looks to build his relationship with the Hurricanes.

“Miami is definitely at the top of my list, they’re No. 1,” Desir said. “Now, I really want to get to know them more come to their games and practice and things like that.”

CaneSport’s take

Desir was one of the most dominant defensive linemen during Thursday’s camp, which led to him earning his Miami Hurricanes offer. Despite being unranked thus far in the 2025 class, Desir has the making of an elite prospect and showed flashes of one as well. It may be early in his process, but Miami has made a great impression on Desir early on.
