Miami’s massive official visit weekend resulted in a Saturday night commitment from Theodore (Al.) 2024 three-star linebacker Cameron Pruitt, the No. 403 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 39 overall linebacker.
Pruitt announced his commitment in a tweet Saturday evening as his Miami official visit drew to a close. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound linebacker emerged as a priority target for the Hurricanes over roughly the last month and made the announcement on his first official visit.
“Thanks to my mama and the people who supported me through my journey but I’m committing to the U!” Pruitt tweeted.
Pruitt becomes the 10th 2024 prospect to commit to the Canes in this year’s recruiting cycle and Miami’s second linebacker after Miami (Fla.) Central three-star Vincent Shavers committed last month. His commitment also comes as the Hurricanes continue to place a heavy emphasis on bulking up in the front seven in this year’s recruiting class.
Pruitt had also drawn heavy interest from programs including Ole Miss, Arkansas and Mississippi State and held all three programs in high regard heading into this weekend’s visit. He had more than two dozen total offers including from Alabama, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame and Tennessee but ultimately chose the Hurricanes.

Miami linebackers coach Derek Nicholson played a major role in his recruitment and had developed a close relationship with the linebacker, who has an On3 Industry Grade of 89.00 — just one point shy of being a four-star recruit. He does not yet hold an On3 NIL Valuation.
He visited Miami twice in 2023 — once in late January and once in April — and saw increased communication with Miami’s staff over the last month before he eventually scheduled his Miami official visit.
He also has official visits scheduled to Arkansas June 12 and Ole Miss June 16. He told CaneSport Saturday night that he still plans to take those visits.
CaneSport’s Take
Pruitt is a tremendous pickup for the Hurricanes as the Canes continue to focus heavily on the front seven. He was very interested in Miami coming into the visit, and the Canes have now apparently sealed the deal even if they have to sweat out a few official visits.
