Miami safety Kamren Kinchens released from hospital and in good spirits despite Saturday scare
Late in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 48-33 win over Texas A&M, Miami junior safety Kamren Kinchens was carted off the field after sustaining an unknown injury, which left many in concern over the well-being of the 2022 All-American safety.
Less than 24 hours later, Miami received good news as Kinchens was released from the hospital Sunday morning to rejoin the team after undergoing extensive evaluation’s Saturday night.
“The football program would like to thank the Ryder Center and the University of Miami Health System staff for their tremendous care and immediate response in support of Kam,” the Miami football program said in a released statement.
Kinchens delivered his own message on social media.
“I want to Thank everyone for the prayers, I’m doing better Love Y’all”, Kinchens posted on X Sunday afternoon.
Prior to the injury, the 6-foot, 205-pound Miami junior played a major role in the Hurricanes’ victory over the Aggies, finishing the contest with seven tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

“So far, the reports that we have on [Kamren Kinchens] are that everything seem to be relatively normal,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said following Saturday’s contest. “So I’m going to head over there right after I get done with the press conference and see how he’s doing. I think we’re going to be fine.”
It is still uncertain when the junior safety will return to the playing field, but at the moment Kinchen’s well-being and health are the main priorities. It looks as if the junior safety is in good condition, which is the biggest win for the Hurricanes this weekend.
A look back at Kinchens 2022 season
Following a stellar sophomore season, Kinchens was named to the All-ACC First Team. He earned first-team All-America plaudits from both Associated Press and The Sporting News and led the Hurricanes with 59 total tackles and started all 12 games. He also added team-high six interceptions, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
