Offensive tackle Jaden Wilkerson signs with Miami Hurricanes: 'From day one, he’s been willing to come in and put in the work'
Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater three-star offensive tackle Jaden Wilkerson committed to Miami June 19 over Syracuse, Rutgers and UCF. Wednesday, he officially became a Hurricane by signing with Miami.
The 6-foot-5.5, 330-pound offensive tackle remained locked in with the Hurricanes through the summer and fall after shutting down his commitment.
“Coach (Alex Mirabal), my position coach, he was a really big part of why I committed (to Miami),” Wilkerson told CaneSport after his commitment. “Coach (Mario) Cristobal as well, being an O-line guy himself, and I just felt the love from Day One. When I went up there for the first time and I wasn’t even offered and I wasn’t even being really recruited at that point, I was getting love from a lot of position coaches even though they didn’t know who I was. When I finally got offered, I knew they were going to be at the top of my board for a while.”
Edgewater head coach Cameron Duke has remained complimentary of the Hurricanes’ three-star offensive line commit and saw him improve daily this fall.
“From day one, he’s been willing to come in and put in the work,” Duke told CaneSport. “He’s had a great offseason, and in the winter and spring, he’s gotten better every day. Our offensive line coach challenges guys day in and day out, and Jaden wanted that. He enjoys being challenged and pushed, and I think there hasn’t been a day where he hasn’t gotten better. We’re excited about his development and growth, and he likes to be pushed and work hard.”

Wilkerson hung out with Miami’s fellow Orlando-area offensive line commits Max Buchanan and Demetrius Campbell this fall to watch Hurricane games and remained enthused about Miami’s on-field performance this fall. He never doubted his decision.
“I feel great, and I feel solid with my decision,” Wilkerson told CaneSport. “I feel like it’s the best decision I’ve made.”
CaneSport’s Take
Wilkerson’s size and strength have made him a high-upside prospect with tremendous potential, and if he reaches his ceiling, he could be a name we hear for a while.
