Recruit reaction after Miami's miraculous comeback win over Cal: "The world is witnessing something special"
Last night the Miami Hurricanes pulled off a miraculous comeback against the Cal Golden Bears after trailing by 25 points in the third quarter, winning 39-38. For the second consecutive week, the Cardiac Canes pulled off a come-from-behind win after doing the same against the Virginia Tech Hokies the week prior at Hard Rock Stadium.
Although the Hurricanes matchup didn’t finish until around 2:30 AM EST, there were still plenty of top Miami targets and commits watching the late-night matchup. And they loved what they saw from Canes head coach Mario Cristobal and his football team.
Mounting back-to-back comebacks of that nature is no easy feat, but 2025 four-star Miami commit Amari Wallace had the utmost faith in the Canes regardless of the situation they were in.
“No matter how much time is on the clock, the U always got a shot,” Wallace said.
Like Wallace, his teammate at Miami Central, 2026 linebacker Karon Maycock shared the same belief. Last week the rising junior prospect was on hand to watch the Canes 38-34 win over Virginia Tech and was up last night watching yet again.
“My thoughts on the game were that I liked how it was a good game—a tough win for them,” Maycock said. “But they still fought when they were down, and they didn’t give up. They came together as a team. The coaches came together, and they just started to dominate and pick it up and get the victory.”
Hurricanes 2025 three-star offensive line commit TK Muex loved the poise that he saw from his future program and the fact they didn’t flinch despite being down big throughout the game.
“Miami played great,” Muex said. “Didn’t panic, just kept playing, but also, like I said before, when you understand the game, you don’t panic. And that’s what I love about this team.”
With all eyes on the Hurricanes last night, Miami prevailed, and this win looks to have had a big impact on how recruits across the country are looking at the Canes.
