Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Tunmise Adeleye is on campus for an official visit that started Tuesday and the Recruiting Prediction Machine is already projecting that Miami has a very strong chance to land Adeleye in this recruiting class.

The defensive lineman transfer who last played at Texas A&M isn’t just visiting Miami Dec. 13-Dec. 15 but giving the Canes a remarkable amount of consideration along with USC, Cal and Michigan State. Both myself and CaneSport Publisher Gary Ferman have projected him to Coral Gables with 80% and 70% chances respectively.

Adeleye is a former four-star recruit who spent two seasons at Texas A&M, one of which was a redshirt year, and he started his first two games of the season against Sam Houston State and Appalachian State this year before injuries derailed his season.

He’s hosted Cal for an in-home visit and visited Michigan State since he entered the transfer portal Dec. 5, and he plans to visit Cal immediately following the conclusion of his visit with Miami.

But Adeleye already likes Miami. In fact, he likes them so much he canceled a visit with another, undisclosed school to visit Coral Gables this week.

“(Monday) I really reiterated to (Miami’s coaching staff) how much of a chance they have,” Adeleye said. “Even in comparison to some other schools that may have a better record that are in my final four, I’m not really considering them as much as Miami.”

USC is the only program in Adeleye’s final four that finished with a better record than the Canes in 2022 (Michigan State also went 5-7 and Cal went 4-8), so we know Miami is at least being more heavily considered than USC. And after visiting Michigan State and feeling like Miami’s coaches may have felt like they were out of the running to land the former blue-chip prospect, he let the staff know just how much of a chance it has of landing his commitment.

Adeleye said he’s most heavily considering where he would be able to have an immediate impact and which team offers a schematic fit, both of which Miami can offer. The Canes currently have three total defensive linemen or EDGEs committed in this year’s 2023 high school class – Jayden Wayne, Collins Acheampong and Joshua Horton – and Adeleye offers immediate help to a defensive line that struggled last season.

Miami offered Adeleye two days after he entered the portal, and he said the coaching staff has maintained regular contact with him during the recruiting process.

Adeleye is on campus just before Miami hosts a horde of 2023 recruits this weekend as it makes its last efforts to shore up its currently No. 8 ranked class before signing day next Wednesday. But the staff is clearly making sure it pushes after a few transfer portal targets too.

Adeleye will likely make an announcement next week following his visit to Cal this weekend.
