BIG-TIME ADDITION TO CLASS: Top-100 LB Kellen Wiley signs with Miami Hurricanes
Tampa (Fla.) Armwood four-star top-100 linebacker Kellen Wiley has signed with Miami over Texas, Florida and Maryland. He had committed to Miami earlier on signing day and now is confirmed inking his UM papers.
Wiley was one of the top remaining uncommitted targets in the cycle after his recruitment picked up late and was a major target for Miami this fall. The Hurricanes offered the No. 92 overall prospect and No. 7 linebacker early this season after a breakout performance against Miami (Fla.) Norland and pursued him heavily this fall. He visited Miami for the Hurricanes’ home opener against Florida A&M and home game against Florida State and previously had an official visit set for Miami’s home finale against Wake Forest, although Miami’s staff ultimately asked him if he would consider canceling the trip to allow them to focus on winning their final home game. He obliged.
Miami, Texas, Maryland and Florida all battled aggressively in the final week of his recruitment, although Texas looked to be in the most favorable position heading into the final stretch. Multiple reporters entered RPMs favoring the Longhorns to land the blue-chip prospect, but Miami remained persistent throughout November. Wiley grew high on Texas following an official visit to Austin in November, but Miami didn’t slow down.
Schools like Alabama, USC, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Penn State also made runs at Wiley this fall, although he narrowed his list down to the Hurricanes, Longhorns, Terps and Gators.

“I talk to (the Canes) a lot,” Wiley said earlier this week. “My first time being in Miami, they got me on the phone with Ray Lewis, who was one of my biggest inspirations growing up. That’s really what’s kept them in the game. They’re consistent. They talk to me a lot.”
Wiley’s commitment and signing gives the Hurricanes another badly-needed linebacker in the class following four-star linebacker Gavin Nix’s flip to Florida Tuesday. Wiley now joins three-star linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin, who has long remained committed to The U.
