Leo (Ind.) four-star tight end Brock Schott may be one of the signees that lives furthest from Miami, but distance from home didn’t hamper his enthusiasm about The U.

Schott, the No. 221 overall prospect and No. 12 tight end in the cycle, has signed, formally becoming a Hurricane. Schott is one of two four-star tight ends in Miami’s 2025 class along with fellow four-star prospect Luka Gilbert and has remained solid with Miami since committing in April.

Schott first visited Miami as a sophomore last spring as part of a group visiting Coral Gables and eventually began receiving a strong recruiting push from tight ends coach Cody Woodiel this spring. Schott immediately emerged as one of Miami’s top tight end targets in the class and was consistently prioritized by the Hurricanes staff, which ultimately led to his commitment April 13 over Ohio State.

Programs like Auburn still reached out after his commitment, but Schott remained solid with the Hurricanes.

“Miami’s been a school that’s been on me since very early in my recruitment,” Schott told On3 after his commitment. “They were on me since day one. Mario Cristobal, he’s really shown how much they want me. They showed me that I’m their No. 1 guy at tight end and they were willing to do as much as they could recruiting-wise to get me.”

Schott’s relationship with Woodiel and the Hurricanes’ continued on-field success helped the 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect. Schott was recruited to play an H-back/off-line tight end role while Gilbert was recruited as a more traditional in-line tight end.

Miami’s tight ends production this fall has helped keep him locked in as well.

“Especially with the way the season is going, it just made me feel better about my decision (to commit to Miami),” Schott said. “Every time I come down there I can kind of just sense they’re building something special, and they’re starting to really prove it this year with how they’re using the tight ends and just how the season is going so far.”

Schott remained confident he would sign with the Hurricanes throughout the fall.

“I feel really good about it and have loved what they’ve been doing, especially with the tight ends,” Schott said in mid-October. “It’s been a good decision so far. Miami just kind of stuck out when we went down there. It was always a top school ever since I went down the first time. Things just clicked really well, and coach Cristobal was one of the head coaches who was really consistent with me in recruiting, and that showed a lot to me.”

CaneSport’s Take

Miami has one of the better tight end classes this year and has significantly upgraded the collective talent level in the tight end room. There’s plenty of reason for Miami fans to be optimistic about this year’s group.
