The Miami Hurricanes are in shock-the-world mode today, with UM perhaps set to land the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, Nixa (MO) High School 5-star OT Jackson Cantwell.

He will announce at 3:45 p.m. You can watch the live stream here.

The last time Miami landed a player who was ranked by one of the major recruiting services as the overall top-rated player regardless of position? That was DJ Williams all the way back in the class of 2000.

Yeah, it’s been a while.

But Mario Cristobal always has shown a knack for recruiting 5-star talent, and that’s certainly continued at Miami. Previous 5-stars he’s already landed here are DE Hayden Lowe this past cycle; DT Justin Scott, DE Marquise Lightfoot and DE Armondo Blount in 2024; and OL Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola in 2023.

If Miami does land Cantwell, it will be a remarkable turnaround after many were predicting he’d land at Georgia as recently as Monday. The lineman just visited the Bulldogs over the weekend.

A lot’s changed in less than 24 hours.

Today On3’s Pete Nakos logged a pick for Cantwell to choose the Canes, writing that “sources have indicated that the Hurricanes’ offer has been raised to roughly $2.5 million in Year 1 for Cantwell. Sources have told On3 that the offer is a multi-year deal that escalates in salary annually.”

The 6-8, 305-pounder is choosing between Georgia, Miami and Oregon.

So be sure to tune in live to his announcement.
