BREAKING: 2023 three-star DB Sean Brown has signed with Michigan State
2023 Simi Valley (CA) High School three-star DB Sean Brown has signed with Michigan State. Brown, standing at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, originally committed Arizona back in June. Following a weekend visit alongside lifelong best friend and fellow MSU commit Jaelon Barbarin, Brown committed to Michigan State on December 16, 2022. Brown held additional offers from Arizona, Oregon State, Washington State, BYU, and more. The 2023 On3 Consensus three-star is ranked No. 1048 nationally, the No. 97 safety, and the No. 88 player in the state of California.
On3 rates Brown a three-star prospect (87.00), the No. 72 safety, and the No. 70 player in the state of California. Brown does not have a national rank, according to On3.
“The thing that stuck out to me the most was seeing that Big Ten logo on the shirt. It made me feel a little more special with that big of a conference,” Brown told SpartanMag.com
Another connection to the Spartan program includes his mother, who grew up in the Kalamazoo (MI) area. Brown still has family in the state.

“I loved it,” Brown said of the snow in East Lansing following his recent visit. “I was not sure if I would be a fan of it but the different scenery was beautiful to see. I made my first snowball and I felt like a kid. I think I would enjoy it. Life is always about adapting. It is just something to get used to. We will all be going through the same thing so I won’t be the only one who has to deal with it.”
NIL Valuation
Brown currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
