2024 Chicago DT Mikeshun Beeler commits to Michigan State
Michigan State landed a commitment class of 2024 defensive tackle Mikeshun Beeler, of Chicago (IL) Simeon High School on Feb. 5, just two days before the late 2024 national signing period begins. Beeler spent the weekend in East Lansing on an official visit on Jan. 27, his first trip to East Lansing.
The official visit wrapped up over a week ago, as Beeler announced his final decision live at Simeon High School on Feb. 5. He is expected to sign his letter of intent on Feb. 7.
Beeler (6-3, 244) is ranked a three-star, the No. 1710 overall recruit in the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. He holds 33 other offers, including Oregon, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M, and others.
The three-star defensive lineman previously announced his plans to make a final decision on Feb. 7, with Georgia Tech, Purdue, Indiana, Texas A&M, Toledo, Oregon, Colorado, and Arizona State being named as finalists. Michigan State defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa and the rest of the Spartan staff were able to not only cement themselves as a finalist, but seal the deal on the official visit.
Beeler logged 45 total tackles along with 18 tackles for a loss as a senior in 2023. He also had nine sacks on the season.

Michigan State has a need for high school defensive tackle recruits, as the previous Spartan staff did not sign any true defensive tackles in the class of 2023, and just one in Alex Vansumeren in the class of 2022.
The Spartans also signed versatile defensive end Kekai Burnett of Honolulu (HI) Punahou in the early signing period. Burnett (6-3, 235) is listed as an edge rusher, with the frame and flexibility to potentially move inside at the college level.
Michigan State will also expect to sign 2024 wide receiver commitment Jaylan Brown, of Nacogdoches (TX) High School on Feb. 7. Brown committed to Michigan State after an official visit earlier this month. The Michigan State 2024 class now sits at 22 total high school commitments.
