On3 has released the latest update to its 2024 football recruiting rankings. It’s the first update to the upcoming recruiting class following the late signing period, which marked the end of the 2023 recruiting cycle.

“Our goal is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential in college football, as manifested by the NFL Draft,” said On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. “We work toward finishing with 32 five-stars every cycle.”

Michigan State’s 2024 class has started strong with three four-star prospects, all of which were in the On300 Ranking prior to today’s update.

Michigan State Commits

Four-star WR Nick Marsh, River Rouge (MI) High School

Previous: No. 128

New: No. 123

The Skinny: Marsh committed to Michigan State on July 31 following a visit to East Lansing the day before. The four-star was a massive in-state win, ranked the No. 2 prospect in the state of Michigan. The Spartans will have to hold off multiple potential suitors as more and more begin to spring up. The first commit in Michigan State’s 2024 class was not shy about his interest in visiting other schools, but remains ‘locked in’ with the Spartans.

Four-star CB Jamari Howard, Hialeah (FL) Westland

Previous: No. 25

New: No. 50

The Skinny: Following a September visit, Howard was a surprisingly early addition to the Spartans’ class. The four-star visited East Lansing in early September and announced his commitment later that same month. Michigan State will now need to hold onto the Florida native’s commitment, with interest coming from Florida State, Alabama, Georgia and more.

Four-star CB Jaylen Thompson, Murfreesboro (TN) Riverdale

Previous: No. 250

New: Not Ranked

The Skinny: Thompson was the Spartans’ third commitment in the 2024 recruiting cycle. The four-star announced his commitment two days after Christmas, on December 27. Thompson visited East Lansing twice unofficially during 2022 before making his decision. Like the other two commits, Michigan State will have to fight off multiple Power Five schools to keep Thompson in its class.
