Michigan State adds Wisconsin transfer LB Jordan Turner
Michigan State’s first-year coaching staff built on its offseason roster reconstruction adding Wisconsin transfer linebacker Jordan Turner on Wednesday. Turner announced his commitment to the Spartans via social media.
The Farmington, Mich., native spent four seasons with the Badgers from 2020-2023. After redshirting during the COVID-shortened season in 2020, Turner appeared in six games the following year. The 6-foot-1, 240-pound linebacker earned a starting role the next two seasons.
Turner tallied 61 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and one forced fumble this past season. In 30 career games across three seasons with the Badgers, Turner compiled 135 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and three interceptions.
Turner—who committed to Wisconsin in June 2019—held additional offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Purdue and more.
Upon his arrival to Madison, Wisc., Turner was ranked the No. 615 recruit in the nation, according to the 2020 On3 Industry Rankings. Turner was also the No. 65 linebacker prospect and the No. 20 ranked player in the state of Michigan.

Turner holds a three-star ranking in the 2024 On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. He is the No. 18 ranked linebacker and the No. 228 overall player in the transfer portal.
Michigan State’s linebacker room is thin on bodies following the 2023 season. Turner joins Jordan Hall, Cal Haladay and Darius Snow as only linebackers on the Spartan roster with substantial playing experience. Snow recently withdrew his name from the transfer portal, returning to East Lansing for the 2024 season.
Graduate linebacker Jacoby Windmon entered the NCAA transfer portal in early December. Sources tell SpartanMag.com that a return to Michigan State is still an option for Windmon.
