Michigan State landed a big commitment on Nov. 27, completing the flip of former West Virginia defensive back commit Terrance Edwards. Edwards (6-0, 168), of Richmond (VA) Trinity Episcopal School, had previously been committed to the Mountaineers since June.

The cornerback committed to West Virginia just days before a scheduled official visit to East Lansing, which he canceled at the time of his commitment. Edwards made his official visit to Michigan State this past weekend (Nov. 22), with less than two weeks until signing day.

Edwards is the cousin of former Michigan State wide receiver Felton Davis who was unable to make the official visit, but has offered helpful advice to the family member. The cornerback visited Michigan State for an unofficial visit in March of 2024.

“Michigan State has always been one of the schools I thought about,” Edwards previously told SpartanMag.com “I have been watching them since my cousin Felton Davis played there.”

The defensive back had previously kept a close relationship with Michigan State offensive assistant Cordale Grundy. Grundy previously worked with the Colorado safeties, making the transition to an offensive graduate assistant role in East Lansing. Edwards and Grundy had a previous relationship during the assistants time in Boulder.

Edwards is ranked a three-star, the No. 683 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 69 cornerback and the No. 21 recruit in Virginia. The cornerback held offers from Clemson, Oklahoma, Penn State, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and others before his commitment in the summer.

The commitment of Edwards is big for Michigan State as current cornerback commitment Aydan West spent the weekend in Columbus on an official visit. West currently still remains in the Spartan 2025 class, slotted to return to East Lansing for the matchup against Rutgers next weekend (Nov. 29).

Michigan State also holds commitments from California cornerback LaRue Zamorano and Florida safety George Mullins in the defensive back group.

The Spartans also welcomed current Miami (OH) commitment Cairo Skanes for an official visit over the weekend alongside Edwards. Skanes (6-1, 180) also visited Wisconsin and NC State this fall, as both schools along with Duke, Virginia, and others also make a late push.
