East Lansing, Mich. – A pair of Michigan State defensive linemen entered the transfer portal Saturday morning.

Defensive end Khris Bogle and defensive tackle Dre Butler, both redshirt seniors, became the 18th and 19th Michigan State players to enter the portal. Bogle has one season of eligibility remaining, while Butler noted on Twitter that he has two.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Bogle spent the past two seasons at Michigan State after transferring in from Florida. He totaled 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in 10 games this fall (five of which were starts). Bogle played in the first four games of the 2022 season as a true senior before missing the remaining eight with an injury.

“Green and white will always have a place in my heart,” Bogle said in a statement released to Twitter. “I have learned many things throughout my time here at Michigan State that have allowed me to grow as a man.”

A former four-star recruit out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons High School, Bogle was the No. 54 player in the 2019 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the No. 4 EDGE recruit and No. 9 player from Florida in his class.

Butler committed to Michigan State via the transfer portal on Dec. 21, 2022. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Butler logged nine tackles in his one season at Michigan State. Butler played limited snaps in each of the Spartans’ first three games before missing the rest of the season with an injury.

“Grateful for my time at MSU,” Butler said on Twitter. “Thank you God for the opportunities, amazing fans, coaches and teammates. Cherishing the memories and friendships I made.”

Butler began his post-high school career at Independence (Kan.) Community College before transferring to Auburn for two seasons. The Covington, Ga., native then played his redshirt junior season at Liberty in 2022, before moving on to Michigan State for the 2023 season.

Butler was a three-star JUCO recruit, per the On3 Industry JUCO Rankings. He was the No. 14 overall player, No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 3 player from Kansas in the 2020 JUCO Rankings.

Bogle and Butler will join quarterback Katin Houser, tight end Evan Morris, wide receiver Sebastian Brown, cornerback Charles Brantley, guard Kevin Wigenton, tackle Ethan Boyd, quarterback Sam Leavitt, wide receiver Christian Fitzpatrick, quarterback Noah Kim, receiver Tyrell Henry, guard Geno VanDeMark, defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, punter Michael O’Shaughnessy, running back Jordon Simmons, defensive end Zion Young, defensive back Justin White and tackle Brandon Baldwin in the portal.
