Michigan State football: 2023-24 transfer portal tracker
The NCAA transfer portal opened Monday, and a number of Michigan State football players have already entered their names. Follow along as SpartanMag.com provides transfer portal updates as they continue to come in.

DECEMBER 27
- (3:06 p.m. ET) – Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon withdrew his name from the transfer portal. Harmon received interest from the likes of Ohio State, Oregon and Auburn during his stay in the transfer portal.
- (10:18 a.m. ET) – Michigan State offensive guard Geno VanDeMark withdrew his name from the transfer portal. VanDeMark received interest from several teams during his stay in the portal, including Oklahoma.
DECEMBER 26
- (6:12 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State linebacker Quavian Carter committed to Florida A&M via the transfer portal.
- (3:17 p.m. ET) – Michigan State linebacker Quavian Carter entered the transfer portal. Carter redshirted the 2022 season and did not appear in a game during the 2023 season due to injury.
- (8:22 a.m. ET) – Michigan State landed former James Madison long snapper Kaden Schickel out of the transfer portal. He played in all 13 games for the Dukes this fall.
DECEMBER 21
- (5:07 p.m. ET) – Michigan State wide receiver Jaron Glover withdrew his name from the transfer portal. Glover earned an offer from East Carolina during his stay in the portal. He also visited Georgia.
DECEMBER 20
- (5:27 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State offensive guard Kevin Wigenton committed to Illinois out of the transfer portal. Wigenton started six games at right guard this fall.
- (12:40 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State defensive back Justin White committed to Division II Davenport out of the transfer portal. White stepped away from the team on Sept. 30.
- (12:03 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State tight end Evan Morris committed to Central Florida out of the transfer portal. The former kickoff specialist caught four passes for eight yards this fall.
- (8:59 a.m. ET) – Michigan State earned a commitment from former Middle Tennessee State defensive end Quindarius Dunnigan out of the transfer portal. He totaled three sacks this fall.
- (8:30 a.m. ET) – Former Michigan State running back Jordon Simmons signed with Akron out of the transfer portal. Simmons led the Spartans in rushing in 2020.
DECEMBER 18
- (7:34 p.m. ET) – Michigan State landed former Wisconsin linebacker Jordan Turner out of the transfer portal. Turner totaled three sacks and one forced fumble this fall.
- (7 p.m. ET) – Michgian State landed former Purdue wide receiver TJ Sheffield out of the transfer portal. Sheffield caught 32 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns this fall.
- (5:31 p.m. ET) – Michigan State landed former Oregon State tight end Jack Velling out of the transfer portal. He totaled 29 receptions for 438 yards and eight touchdowns this fall.
DECEMBER 16
- (2:24 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State quarterback Katin Houser committed to East Carolina out of the transfer portal. Houser threw for 1,130 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions this fall.
DECEMBER 15
- (6:42 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State wide receiver Christian Fitzpatrick committed to Marshall out of the transfer portal. Fitzpatrick caught 18 passes for 252 yards and one touchdown this fall.
- (2:01 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State wide receiver Tyrell Henry committed to Wisconsin out of the transfer portal. Henry caught 24 passes for the Spartans this fall, which ranked fourth on the team. He also returned kickoffs and punts for Michigan State.
DECEMBER 14
- (12:45 p.m. ET) – Former Liberty defensive tackle Kendy Charles has received an offer from the Spartan coaching staff. The senior lineman has 75 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and nine sacks in29 career games.
DECEMBER 13
- (5:09 p.m. ET) – Michigan State extends an offer to Furman redshirt senior offensive lineman Pearson Toomey. Toomey was a two-time All-Southern conference selection in 2022 and 2023.
- (10:48 a.m. ET) – Former Buffalo Bulls starting safety Devin Grant received an offer from the Spartan coaching staff. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound sophomore safety finished the 2023 season with 79 tackles and five interceptions.
DECEMBER 12
- (12:29 p.m. ET) – Michigan State offers former Oklahoma defensive lineman Kelvin Gilliam. The redshirt sophomore has additional offers from Memphis, Virginia Tech, Liberty and Jackson State.
- (10:16 a.m. ET) – Former Michigan State starting quarterback Noah Kim has committed to Coastal Carolina, he announced via social media on Tuesday. Kim threw for 1,090 yards and six touchdowns in 2023.
DECEMBER 11
- (1:10 p.m. ET) – Offensive tackles Ethan Boyd and Brandon Baldwin have officially withdrawn their names from the NCAA transfer portal. The pair will return to East Lansing for the 2023 season.
- (8:14 a.m. ET) – Former Michigan State starting linebacker Jacoby Windmon enters the NCAA transfer portal. Windmon—who has one year of eligibility remaining—has 233 tackles, 18.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and one interception in his college career.
DECEMBER 10
- (12:33 p.m. ET) – Michigan State extends an offer to Colorado State defensive back TJ Crandall. The freshman defensive back tallied 19 tackles, one tackle for loss and one interception in 2023.
DECEMBER 9
- (4:12 p.m. ET) – Redshirt freshman wide receiver Jaron Glover announced Saturday afternoon he had officially entered the transfer portal. Glover caught 14 passes for 261 yards this season.
- (3:33 p.m. ET) – Michigan State starting tight end Maliq Carr enters the NCAA transfer portal. Carr hauled in 30 receptions for 352 yards and three touchdowns in 2023.
- (3:19 p.m. ET) – Spartans’ redshirt freshman back up right guard Kristian Phillips enters the NCAA transfer portal.
- (12:26 p.m. ET) – Michigan State extends and offer to former West Virginia defensive tackle Mike Lockhart. The redshirt junior finished the 2023 season with 21 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
- (11:34 a.m. ET) – Former starting cornerback Charles Brantley announces via social media that he is officially in the NCAA transfer portal. Brantley announced his intentions to enter yesterday evening.
- (11:08 a.m. ET) – The Spartans are set to host former Oregon State tight end Jack Velling this weekend, sources confirm to SpartanMag.com. The sophomore caught 29 passes for 438 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023.
- (10:37 a.m. ET) – Michigan State defensive tackle Dre Butler has entered the transfer portal. Butler spent time at Independence Community College, Auburn and Liberty before transferring to East Lansing ahead of the 2023 season. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
- (10:00 a.m. ET) – Michigan State defensive end Khris Bogle has entered the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz. Bogle finished with 14 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2023.
DECEMBER 8
- (5:17 p.m. ET) – Michigan State tight end and former kickoff specialist Evan Morris announced his intent to enter the transfer portal via social media. Morris has one season of eligibility remaining.
- (2:54 p.m. ET) – Former Michigan State starting cornerback Charles Brantley announced via social media his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Friday. Brantley briefly entered the transfer portal this past offseason before removing his name shortly after.
DECEMBER 7
- (10:58 p.m. ET) – Michigan State extended an offer to redshirt freshman Alabama defensive lineman transfer Isaiah Hastings. The former four-star recruit has seen limited game action.
- (8:39 p.m. ET) – Spartans offer former San Jose State starting left tackler Fernando Carmona Jr., he announced via social media.
- (11:41 a.m. ET) – Michigan State extended an offer to Liberty senior defensive tackle Kendy Charles. The 6-foot, 280-pound Charles totaled 24 tackles and three sacks in seven games this fall.
DECEMBER 6
- (10:05 p.m. ET) – Michigan State defensive backs coach Blue Adams extends an offer to former Oregon State defensive back Jermod McCoy, the freshman announced via social media. McCoy had 31 tackles and two interceptions during the 2023 season.
- (8:24 p.m. ET) – Spartans offer former Central Michigan defensive tackle Quindario Lee. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman had 28 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks in 2023.
- (6:59 p.m. ET) – Former starting right tackle Spencer Brown announces his commitment to Oklahoma via social media.
- (4:18 p.m. ET) – Michigan State offers Middle Tennessee State defensive tackle Marley Cook, he announced on social media. Cook has tallied 61 tackles, 19 TFLs, 10.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 49 career games.
- (2:50 p.m. ET) – Former Spartan long snapper Hank Pepper announces his commitment to USC via social media.
- (11:17 a.m. ET) – Michigan State offer former Memphis right guard Davion Carter, he announced on social media. Carter—who began his collegiate career at Northwest Mississippi Community College—was a two-year starter for the Tigers.
DECEMBER 5
- (1:31 p.m. ET) – Youngstown State transfer defensive tackle Anthony Johnson receives offer from Spartan staff, he shared via social media. Johnson has tallied 45 tackles, nine TFLs and five sacks in 36 career games.
- (1:10 p.m. ET) – Michigan State offers former Kentucky defensive lineman Jamarius Dinkins, he announced via social media on Tuesday. The Columbus, Ohio, native has 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack in 23 career games.
- (7:25 a.m. ET) – MSU offers former Pittsburgh defensive end Samuel Okunlola, he announced on social media. Okunlola—who is the cousin of current Spartan tight end Ademola Faleye—had 18 tackles, five sacks and one forced fumble in 2023.
DECEMBER 4
- (6:48 p.m. ET) – Youngstown State transfer linebacker Alex Howard received an offer from the Spartan staff on Monday evening, he announced via social media. Howard has totaled 142 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and one interception in 38 career games.
- (6:29 p.m. ET) – Michigan State has offered former Pittsburgh linebacker Bangally Kamara, he announced via social media. Kamara tallied 54 tackles and two sacks in 10 games during the 2023 season.
- (4:08 p.m. ET) – Oregon State freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles announces via social media his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Chiles threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns in nine games as the Beavers’ backup this fall.
- (12:27 p.m. ET) – Michigan State offered Kent State sophomore wide receiver Trell Harris. The La Grange, Ill., native totaled 26 receptions for 400 yards and one touchdown in eight games this fall.
- (11:55 a.m. ET) – Ohio State junior linebacker Reid Carrico entered the transfer portal. Michigan State has been in touch with the former four-star from Ironton, Ohio, according to SpartanMag’s Jason Killop. MORE HERE
- (11:20 a.m. ET) – Michigan State makes Holy Cross transfer offensive line Luke Newman’s top group. The Bloomfield, Mich., native is a three-time All-Patriot First Team selection and a 2023 FCS Preseason All-American. MORE HERE
- (10:55 a.m. ET) – Starting defensive end Zion Young has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3. Young totaled 26 tackles and 1.5 tackles in 10 games played during the 2023 season.
- (10:25 a.m. ET) – Oregon State freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles is expected to enter the transfer portal. New Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith recruited the former four-star to Corvallis, Ore. Chiles threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns in nine games as the Beavers’ backup this fall.
- (10:00 a.m. ET) – Michigan State offers former Kansas State defensive back William Lee, according to his social media accounts. Lee tallied 42 tackles, 1 forced fumble and two interceptions with the Wildcats in 2023.
- (8:59 a.m. ET) – True freshman quarterback Sam Leavitt has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3. Leavitt played in four games this season completing 15 passes for 139 yards, while running for 67 yards on 13 attempts. He also threw two touchdowns and two interceptions.
- (8:55 a.m. ET) – Michigan State redshirt freshman starting quarterback Katin Houser has officially entered the transfer portal, according to On3. Houser threw for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns, adding five interceptions in 2023.
- (8:46 a.m. ET) – Redshirt freshman right tackle Ethan Boyd has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3. The East Lansing, Mich., native featured in all 12 games for the Spartans this season.
