Michigan State has hired former South Florida recruiting staffer Jenna Learn as its new director of on-campus recruiting, sources confirm to SpartanMag.com. Learn is the second major hire for Michigan State’s new executive director of player personnel and recruiting Mark Diethorn.

Diethorn, who was hired May 1, added former Pittsburgh recruiting analyst Sam Kukura as assistant director of player personnel earlier this month.

Learn comes to East Lansing after spending the previous two years at South Florida. Learn, who graduated from South Florida in 2020 – started as a recruiting operations and event intern in 2021. Learn was then promoted to recruiting operations graduate assistant in 2022.

Learn ran on-campus recruiting operations for former South Florida coach Jeff Scott, who was let go following the 2022 season. Tennessee offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Alex Golesh was named South Florida head coach on Dec. 4, 2022, taking over for Scott.

Michigan State’s new director of on-campus recruiting was retained by Golesh, and remained on staff at South Florida. Learn was set to oversee football operations and recruiting for the Bulls this year. The rising star in the recruiting industry was one of just a handful of holdovers from Scott’s staff.

The Spartans recruiting department underwent a major reshuffle after former general manager Saeed Khalif’s contract was allowed to expire earlier this year. Diethorn’s recruiting staff is now up to five full-time members. In addition to Kukura and Learn, director of player personnel Sean Levy and on-campus recruiting coordinator Diamond Boston remained on staff following Saeed’s departure.
