Michigan State junior day visitor list (1/19/25)
Michigan State will host its first big recruiting event of the year this Sunday, when it welcomes an impressive list of 2026 and 2027 recruits to campus for its annual junior day. The recruits will take in the Michigan State-Illinois basketball game during their visits.
In this article, SpartanMag breaks down the list of junior day visitors, the majority of whom are 2026 recruits.
2026 recruits
Four-star RB Favour Akih, Delaware (Ohio) Hayes High School
Ranking: No. 196 overall, No. 16 running back, No. 9 in Ohio
Other offers: Penn State, Pittsburgh, North Carolina State, Miami, West Virginia, etc.
The Skinny: Michigan State will welcome Akih back to campus for its junior day event, as Akih made two game day visits last fall. Miami offered Akih earlier this week. The Hurricanes’ offer could become enticing for the Ohio running back.
As it stands, Penn State is Michigan State’s main competitor for Akih, with Ohio State lurking as well. The Buckeyes have yet to offer, however. Akih will also visit North Carolina State on Jan. 25.
Four-star LB CJ Sanna, Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy High School
Ranking: No. 321 overall, No. 27 linebacker, No. 17 in Ohio
Other offers: Iowa, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, etc.
The Skinny: Sanna will make his return to East Lansing this weekend, marking his second visit to Michigan State overall. Sanna also visited Ohio State, Wisconsin and Purdue last fall.
Three-star TE Landen Miree, Cincinnati (Ohio) Princeton High School
Ranking: No. 439 overall, No. 22 tight end, No. 22 in Ohio
Other offers: Florida, Oregon, Wisconsin, LSU, Florida State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Washington, etc.
The Skinny: The recently-offered Miree will make his way from Cincinnati to East Lansing for junior day. Michigan State tight ends coach Brian Wozniak stopped by his school in early January to extend the offer. Wozniak, a graduate of Loveland High School, is also a native of the Cincinnati area. It’s a positive sign for Michigan State that Miree was so quick to schedule his first visit to East Lansing.
Miree has had in-home visits with Arizona State, Wisconsin, Cincinnati and Washington, among others, this month.
Three-star LB Terry Wiggins, Coatesville (Pa.) Area High School
Ranking: No. 454 overall, No. 38 linebacker, No. 17 in Pennsylvania
Other offers: Penn State, Syracuse, Minnesota, Boston College, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, etc.
The Skinny: Wiggins will make his first visit to Michigan State this weekend. Spartan defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Joe Rossi offered Wiggins back in October 2024. A Pennsylvania native himself, Rossi has deep recruiting ties within the state.
Wiggins visited Syracuse, Maryland, Wisconsin and Penn State last fall.
Three-star TE Preston Fryzel, Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic High School
Ranking: No. 535 overall, No. 25 tight end, No. 23 in Ohio
Other offers: Wisconsin, Louisville, Duke, Minnesota, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, etc.
The Skinny: Michigan State will welcome Fryzel back to campus this weekend, as the tight end also visited East Lansing last fall. He visited in the spring of 2024, too.
Fryzel visited Duke for the Blue Devils’ junior day earlier this month. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Pittsburgh, among others, are early offers to keep an eye on for Fryzel.
Three-star TE Jack Janda, Detroit (Mich.) Catholic Central High School
Ranking: No. 564 overall, No. 27 tight end, No. 10 in Michigan
Other offers: Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Miami, Stanford, Cincinnati, etc.
The Skinny: Wozniak and the Spartan staff made Janda a priority upon their arrival to Michigan State. Janda has visited East Lansing countless times during his recruitment. His relationship with Wozniak has only grown stronger over the past year.
Janda has also received an offer from Michigan, where he’s visited several times as well. He will likely take several spring visits before settling on a top group ahead of the summer visit season.
Three-star WR Tayshon Bardo, Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn High School
Ranking: No. 577 overall, No. 100 wide receiver, No. 3 Indiana
Other offers: Wisconsin, Indiana, Louisville, Cincinnati, etc.
The Skinny: Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins offered Bardo during a visit to his high school on Jan. 8. This weekend will mark Bardo’s first visit to East Lansing. The Spartans will look to make a strong impression on Bardo to join Wisconsin and Indiana, among others, at the top of his list.
Three-star OT Eli Bickel, North Branch (Mich.) High School
Ranking: No. 655 overall, No. 61 interior offensive lineman, No. 14 in Michigan
Other offers: Cincinnati, Northwestern, Toledo, etc.
The Skinny: Bickel is another in-state recruit who has been near the top of Michigan State’s since the beginning of the 2026 cycle. Michigan State offered Bickel last fall. Bickel received a visit from Spartan offensive line coach Jim Michalczik and offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren earlier this month. I give the Spartans a strong edge in Bickel’s recruitment as of now.
Three-star EDGE Joshua Pittman, Suffolk (Va.) King’s Fork High School
Ranking: No. 668 overall, No. 56 linebacker, No. 10 in Virginia
Other offers: Virginia Tech, Duke, Syracuse, West Virginia, North Carolina, etc.
The Skinny: Michigan State rush ends coach Chad Wilt stopped by Pittman’s high school earlier this month, which helped solidify his junior day visit.
The Spartans offered Pittman back in October 2024. He received his offer from North Carolina on Thursday. Pittman took game day visits to Syracuse and Virginia Tech last fall.

QB Kayd Coffman, Kentwood (Mich.) East High School
Ranking: NR
Other offers: Ole Miss, Iowa State
The Skinny: Michigan State has taken an early lead in Coffman’s recruitment, offering the in-state quarterback last fall. Ole Miss and Iowa State extended offers earlier this month.
Coffman has visited East Lansing several times, dating back to before he received his Michigan State offer. Coffman trains with former Spartan quarterback Ryan Van Dyke.
TE Joey Caudill, New Lexington (Ohio) High School
Ranking: NR
Other offers: Western Michigan, Miami (Ohio)
The Skinny: Michigan State became Caudill’s first Power Four offer when Wozniak stopped by his high school earlier this month.
Caudill told SpartanMag’s Kenny Jordan that he’s been in contact with Rutgers and Purdue. Sunday will mark his first visit to East Lansing.
CB Nick Hankins, Belleville (Ill.) West High School
Ranking: NR
Other offers: Tennessee, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, etc.
The Skinny: Hankins will make his first visit to East Lansing this weekend. Michigan State offered the cornerback late last November, and Spartan defensive assistant Christian Pawola has kept in contact since.
Tennessee’s coaching staff visited Hankins at his home earlier this month. Hankins received offers from Iowa, Boston College and Stanford on Friday.
DL Blake Smythe, Franklin (Ind.) High School
Ranking: NR
Other offers: Wisconsin, Illinois, Louisville, etc.
The Skinny: This weekend will mark Smythe’s second visit to East Lansing, with the first coming last fall for a game day trip. Michigan State defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa offered Smythe during that visit. The Spartans and Badgers are two programs that stand out for Smythe early on.
