Michigan State added a big addition to their 2026 recruiting class on Sunday (June 22), landing four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham, of Sarasota (FL) Booker High School. He announced his commitment via social media after spending the weekend on campus.

Wortham (6-0, 180) had previously been committed to Central Florida since the spring. He also took official visits to UCF, Georgia, and Kansas State this month. The receiver is ranked a four-star, the No. 287 overall recruit in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 47 wide receiver and the No. 38 recruit in Florida.

The official visit was the second visit to campus for the wide receiver. Wortham visited Michigan State for a junior day event back in January.

“I think he is a very good coach,” Wortham previously said of Courtney Hawkins. “He loves his players. I can tell he loves his players a lot. He is a good coach.

“He said that I can be a good playmaker for Michigan State, making those one-on-one plays in the open field. (Hawkins) said I would be a great fit for them. We just talked about how they would help me at Michigan State and how I would be developed there, also academically throughout the year.”

Wortham becomes Michigan State’s 19th commitment in its 2026 class, and its second wide receiver commit, joining Zachary Washington, of Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School. Those two are joined by four longtime offensive commitments in East Kentwood (Mich.) quarterback Kayd Coffman, North Branch (Mich.) offensive lineman Eli Bickel, Sioux Falls (S.D.) Jefferson tight end Eddie Whiting and Mansfield (Ohio) Lexington tight end Joey Caudill

The Spartans also hold commitments from offensive tackles Quinn Buckey, of Bakersfield (Calif.), Tristan Comer, of Freeland (Mich.) and Collin Campbell, of Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field, on the offensive side of the ball.

On defense, Michigan State holds commitments from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edwards safety Brayden Thomas, Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven rush end Cory House, Frisco (Texas) Lone Star defensive tackle Christopher Knauls, Seattle (Wash.) O’Dea defensive end Fameitau Siale, Middletown (Ohio) safety Jordan Vann, Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek linebacker Braylon Hodge, Hillsdale (NJ) Pascack Valley linebacker Adam Shaw, Jacksonville (Fla.) Impact Christian safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy and Georgia cornerbacks Kelsey Deriso and TJ Umenyiora.
