Kelly represents Michigan State’s first portal commitment of the December window. Sources tell SpartanMag that Michigan State is looking to reshape its wide receiver room this offseason. The Spartans will continue to recruit the position throughout the month. Michigan State welcomed former Kent State wide receiver Chrishon McCray for an official visit on Dec. 13.
Michigan State has seen four wide receivers enter the transfer portal this offseason: Redshirt sophomores Jaron Glover and Antonio Gates, as well as redshirt freshmen Aziah Johnson and Jaelen Smith. The Spartans will also have to replace graduating senior Montorie Foster.
Michigan State is set to return three scholarship receivers from the 2024 team: freshmen Nick Marsh, Jaylan Brown and Austin Clay. The Spartans also signed a pair of three-star receivers in Braylon Collier and Charles Taplin earlier this month. It remains to be seen if redshirt senior Alante Brown returns, too. Brown did not participate in Michigan State’s senior day festivities.
