Michigan State LB Jacoby Windmon enters the transfer portal
Michigan State’s linebacker group shrunk again on Monday, as the Spartans lost one-time starter Jacoby Windmon to the NCAA transfer portal. Windmon—who featured in just three games this year for the Spartans—was able to retain his final year of eligibility.
Windmon transferred to Michigan State during the 2022 offseason. The New Orleans native began his collegiate playing career at UNLV in 2019 before transferring to East Lansing after three seasons.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pound linebacker compiled 64 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and one interception in two seasons with the Spartans. Windmon played eight games in 2022 and three games in 2023. His 2022 season was cut short due to suspension, while his 2023 season was cut short due to injury.
The former three-star prospect joined the UNLV program in 2019 as the No. 1941 ranked recruit in the nation. Windmon was also the No. 232 ranked linebacker and the No. 76 prospect in Louisiana.
Windmon joins right guard Kristian Phillips, wide receiver Jaron Glover, quarterback Katin Houser, cornerback Charles Brantley, tight end Maliq Carr, guard Kevin Wigenton, tackle Ethan Boyd, quarterback Sam Leavitt, wide receiver Christian Fitzpatrick, quarterback Noah Kim, receiver Tyrell Henry, guard Geno VanDeMark, tight end Evan Morris, defensive end Khris Bogle, defensive tackle Dre Butler, wide receiver Sebastian Brown, defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, punter Michael O’Shaughnessy, running back Jordon Simmons, defensive back Justin White, defensive end Zion Young and tackle Brandon Baldwin.
