Michigan State offensive coordinator bullish on Maliq Carr-led tight end group
Michigan State more tight ends in training camp than its had to this point in Mel Tucker's tenure as head coach. Between a large group of transfers and improvement from returning tight ends already in the program, does Michigan State have the pieces to get the critical improvement needed in run blocking? If so, it starts with Maliq Carr, who has the size, length, and demeanor to be solid run-blocker at tight end. “The person who has really improved his game is Maliq Carr,” said offensive coordinator Jay Johnson said. “I know he has the skillset to run and catch and to do all of that. What he has been doing physically in the run game has really taken a step, which makes him more of a complete player.”
