East Lansing, Mich. Michigan State offensive linemen Ethan Boyd and Brandon Baldwin withdrew their names from the transfer portal on Monday, sources confirm to SpartanMag.com.

Boyd, an offensive tackle, entered the portal on Dec. 4 and received offers from Purdue, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Louisville and Indiana. He visited Arizona State the weekend of Dec. 8.

The redshirt sophomore played in all 12 games for Michigan State this fall. He earned three consecutive starts at right tackle against Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State.

The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Boyd appeared in 10 games – mostly on special teams – as a redshirt freshman in 2022. He committed to Michigan State as a three-star prospect out of East Lansing High School ahead of the 2021 season.

Boyd was the No. 728 player, No. 66 offensive tackle and No. 19 player from Michigan in his class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is set to take on a larger role next season after starting right tackle Spencer Brown committed to Oklahoma via the transfer portal.

Baldwin, a redshirt junior, entered the portal on Dec. 4. He played in 10 games for Michigan State this fall, all as a starter at left tackle. The Detroit native saw action in nine games – including five starts – as a redshirt sophomore in 2022.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound Baldwin sat out the 2021 season at Michigan State after transferring in from Independence (Kan.) Community College. He spent three years (2019-21) at Independence Community College, but played just one season there due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former Southfield (Mich.) A&T standout earned the No. 7 JUCO offensive tackle rating, per the On3 Industry Rankings, by the end of his third and final season at Independence Community College.

Michigan State QB Sam Leavitt commits to Arizona State

Meanwhile, former Michigan State quarterback Sam Leavitt committed to Arizona State via the transfer portal on Monday. Leavitt received multiple Power Five offers after he entered the portal on Dec. 4. He joined Boyd and Michigan State offensive guard Kevin Wigenton on their visit to Tempe, Ariz., over the weekend of Dec. 8.

Leavitt appeared in four games for the Spartans this fall. He totaled 139 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on 65.2 percent passing.

Leavitt, a former four-star recruit out of West Linn (Ore.) High School, committed to Michigan State ahead of the 2023 season. He was the No. 381 player, No. 24 quarterback and No. 1 player from Oregon in his class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
