Michigan State football will host former Oregon State sophomore tight end Jack Velling this weekend, sources confirm to SpartanMag.com. The Seattle native has two years of eligibility remaining.

Velling caught 29 passes for 438 yards and eight touchdowns during his sophomore campaign in 2023. The 6-foot-4, 241-pound tight end has 45 receptions, 719 yards and 11 touchdowns in 20 career games with the Beavers.

Velling’s position coach during his time at Oregon State, Brian Wozniak, accepted the same role at Michigan State. Wozniak followed former Beavers’ head coach Jonathan Smith to East Lansing. Smith was named the 26th head coach in Spartan program history on Nov. 25.

Velling—a former three-star high school recruit—is rated a four-star transfer, according to 2024 On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. Additionally, Velling is the No. 3-ranked tight and the No. 30 overall player in the NCAA transfer portal.

Joining Velling in East Lansing is his former Oregon State teammate, freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles. Chiles—who officially entered the transfer portal on Dec. 6.—currently holds five On3 RPM predictions to Michigan State.
