Michigan State signs 2024 three-star TE Wyatt Hook
2024 Cupertino (Calif.) Homestead High School three-star tight end Wyatt Hook signed with Michigan State on Wednesday. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Hook committed to Michigan State on Dec. 12, following his official visit during the weekend of Dec. 8.
The former Oregon State commit followed Jonathan Smith and tight ends coach Brian Wozniak to East Lansing. He chose the Spartans over offers from California, Colorado and Washington State, among others.
Hook is the No. 1461 prospect, No. 82 tight end and No. 114 player from California, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
Hook is a big-bodied tight end, which fits new Spartan offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren’s offense. Tight ends are vital to his system as both pass catchers and run blockers. Wozniak helped develop current Green Bay Packer Luke Musgrave, as well as second-year standout Jack Velling, who committed to Michigan State via the transfer portal on Monday.

Scouting summary
Hook’s 6-foot-6, 230-pound frame provides him with a good foundation heading into this freshman season. He is a plus blocker at tight end, which is sometimes rare in football these days. Hook is solid in the passing game as well. He effectively catches short passes through traffic, as he uses his body to box out defenders. Hook doesn’t yet possess true big-play potential as a pass catcher, however.
Reminds us of
Josh Whyle enrolled at Cincinnati with a similar build to Hook’s. Whyle proved to be a vital piece for the Bearcats, especially in the run game. Whyle was the No. 412 prospect, No. 19 tight end and No. 14 player from Ohio, per the 2018 On3 Industry Rankings. The Tennessee Titans selcted Whyle in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Personal life
Hook was a three-year starter at his high school in northern California. He also played defensive end in high school.
