Michigan State signs 2025 three-star Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's LB Charles White
Michigan State signed 2025 three-star Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s linebacker Charles “DJ” White on Wednesday.
White (6-3, 202) became the second 2025 recruit to commit to Michigan State when he chose the Spartans over Purdue, Boston College and Kansas in April. White also received offers from Penn State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Indiana, among others.
Michigan State’s coaching staff got in touch with White shortly after their arrival in East Lansing late last November. Jonathan Smith extended an offer to White during one of his first recruiting trips as Spartan head coach last December. White proceeded to make three trips to East Lansing before committing to Michigan State in the spring.
White took his official visit to Michigan State in June. He didn’t visit any other school during the summer. White also attended two Spartan football games this past fall.
White is the No. 482 prospect, No. 53 linebacker and No. 9 player from Michigan in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.

Scouting summary
White plays bigger than his 202-pound frame. He has a knack for the ball in pass coverage and is not afraid to get physical. White has good athleticism and takes nice angles to the ball. Michigan State defensive coordinator Joe Rossi has said in that past that he likes White’s sideline-to-sideline speed and field vision. Overall, White is a versatile, athletic linebacker who can impact the game from different parts of the field.
White has put his athleticism on display as a wrestler and track & field athlete for St. Mary’s. He has also gotten involved in kick and punt return for the Eaglets’ football team. White helped lead St. Mary’s to an MHSAA Division I state championship this past fall.
