Michigan State signs 2025 three-star Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal School CB Terrance Edwards
Michigan State signed 2025 three-star Richmond (Va.) Trinity Episcopal School cornerback Terrance “Deuce” Edwards on Wednesday.
Edwards (6-1, 172) announced his decision to flip from West Virginia to Michigan State on Nov. 27. The Spartans made Edwards’ top three in June, but he ultimately chose the Mountaineers over Michigan State and Virginia Tech. He canceled his summer visit to East Lansing in the process.
Edwards also received offers from Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Michigan and Texas A&M, among others.
Despite Edwards’ initial decision, the Spartans decided to keep in touch. His prior relationship with Spartan offensive assistant Cordale Grundy, a former defensive backs coach at Colorado, helped keep Michigan State in the fold.
Edwards also has ties to the program through his cousin, former Spartan wide receiver Felton Davis.

Edwards took an unofficial visit to East Lansing in March and didn’t visit again until the weekend of Nov. 22. He chose to flip to the Spartans shortly after the latter visit, which was an official.
Edwards is the No. 706 prospect, No. 69 cornerback and No. 21 player from Virginia in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He is one of four defensive backs currently committed to Michigan State’s 2025 class. Three-star Texas safety Evan Young, three-star Florida cornerback George Mullins and three-star Maryland cornerback Aydan West round out the Spartans’ defensive back class. It remains to be seen where West signs on Wednesday.
Scouting summary
Edwards is a physical cornerback who plays with plus speed and athleticism. He’s a versatile defender who can play nearly every position in the secondary. Edwards isn’t afraid to lay down a strong hit. He reacts with quickness and sticks well in man coverage. He has demonstrated impressive burst at wide receiver, which is no coincidence, considering his track & field background.
