The third letter of intent to come in for Michigan State on the day, came from four-star shooting guard Kur Teng, of Manchester (NH) Christian Academy, as the Spartans finalize their 2024 recruiting class, signing all three members. The Spartans also signed four-star center/power forward Jesse McCulloch and four-star point guard Jase Richardson. The Michigan State three-man class is ranked the second in the Big Ten for the 2024 cycle, trailing only Indiana.

Teng has been committed to Michigan State since early April 2023, the first member of the class. He chose the Spartans over other offers from Rutgers, Providence, Iowa, Clemson, Auburn, and more. Teng officially visited Rutgers and Providence, along with an official to East Lansing.

“I feel like it was the best decision for me,” Teng said to On3 after committing to Michigan State. “They can help me develop and get better everyday and potentially help me reach my goal. My entire family loved it as well and I’ve also grown strong relationships with the coaching staff.”

“I would say I’m a great three level scorer, a pretty good rebounder for my size, and a solid defender.”

Scouting report

Kur Teng turned in one of the most impressive shooting performances this summer. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard torched the Adidas 3SSB Circuit to the tune of 47 percent from three on 3.0 makes per game. Teng shoots well off movement and was very comfortable getting his feet set and his balance squared. The arms and long, and the release is quick and consistent. Overall it was a very comfortable few months of basketball for Teng as the Michigan State commit averaged 17.5 points per game.

“Teng has a basketball frame, with broad shoulders and long arms. He has a smooth feel on the floor, with a great pace. A smooth catch and shoot player with consistent picture-esque form. While Teng is a slightly above-average athlete, he can attack closeouts and get to the basket or pull-up for a jump shot. Comes from basketball genes as he has multiple siblings currently playing college basketball. Coaches and those around him rave about the work ethic and approach.”
