Iowa City, Iowa – Michigan State released its week five availability report Saturday afternoon, ahead of its 7:30 p.m. kickoff against Iowa. As part of new Big Ten policy, each conference team is required to release an availability report two hours prior to kickoff of every game.

Teams list players as either “questionable” or “out.” Redshirt senior starting linebacker Jacoby Windmon is officially listed as out for the season. Windmon was limited two weeks ago due to an injury and did not play in last week’s game against Maryland.

Michigan State listed 11 players as out: cornerback Charles Brantley, running back Jaren Mangham, defensive tackle Jarrett Jackson, running back Jordan Simmons, cornerback Marqui Lowery, safety Khalil Majeed, defensive tackle Dre Butler, offensive tackle Keyshawn Blackstock, offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark, safety Armorion Smith (season) and linebacker Jacoby Windmon (season).

Cincinnati transfer safety Armorion Smith will miss the remainder of the season. Smith had two tackles in a backup role this season. Michigan State will rely heavily on sophomore Jaden Mangham and redshirt freshman Malik Spencer with limited depth at safety.

The Spartans will also be short on bodies at defensive tackle with Jarrett Jackson and Dre Butler listed as out.

Running back Jalen Berger is not listed on the availability report after missing the last two weeks with an injury. Defensive end Khris Bogle, defensive back Semar Melvin, linebacker Ma’a Gaoteote, linebacker Quavian Carter and offensive lineman Cole Dellinger are also not listed on the injury report after missing last week’s game against Maryland.
