Michigan State’s Tom Izzo applauds Matt Painter’s rant on impact of social media negativity

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State coach Tom Izzo has a new ally in his war against Twitter. Well, it’s not really a war against Twitter, or X. It’s more of a call for understanding, which has been Izzo’s crusade for several years. Matt Painter, Izzo’s respected frienemy who has beaten Michigan State a lot over the years and happens to share Izzo’s worldview on pretty much everything, gave a measured, lucid rant about Twitter and the impact its had on Purdue’s rival, the University of Indiana, following the Boilermakers’ surprising loss in Bloomington over the weekend. “I don’t know if anybody saw Matt Painter’s press conference after that game, but it was really good,” Izzo said during his weekly press conference on Monday.
