When Michigan State practices halfcourt shots, it’s a little bit for fun, and a little bit for real. Truth be known: No one has been better at it recently than Tre Holloman. That trend, and that fun, came home to roost in a big way on Wednesday night when Holloman hit a shot from beyond halfcourt to lift No. 8 Michigan State to a 58-55 victory at No. 16 Maryland, sending his teammates into a tizzy and keeping the Spartans barely atop the Big Ten standings, for the moment, with three regular season games remaining.  “We had practiced those, man,” Holloman said. “So I just got it up and it went in.” “Every time, before a home game, we shoot a half-court shot and Tre has hit the last two,” Izzo said. “So maybe it was all because of that.” More inside.
