Moore is a native of Whitehouse Station, N.J., spending most of his career on the West Coast. He will need to take time to develop relationships in the new recruiting territory, as SpartanMag.com also expects current assistant director of player personnel and recruiting strategies Lino Lupinetti to remain in East Lansing, at least until early signing day (Dec. 20), to help ease the transition.
Oregon State chief of staff and director of football operations Dan Van De Riet is also a top candidate to follow Smith to Michigan State, sources tell SpartanMag.com. Van De Riet has been in his role for the entirety of Smith’s tenure in Corvallis. He returned to Oregon State in 2017, previously serving as associate athletic director of football administration for Nebraska.
Van De Riet oversaw the Oregon State football program’s day-to-day operations and was a liaison with the athletic department. He is responsible for travel, coordinator between football staff members, budgeting, and staffing for the football office.
