Past ties to program made Michigan State a good fit for corners coach Jim Salgado
Michigan State corners coach Jim Salgado has spent all of his coaching career out East with several stops in college and most recently the NFL. A decade ago, however, Salgado spent time at Michigan State learning the Spartan defense at the height of the Dantonio era. That experience helped convince Salgado that Mel Tucker's program was the right fit for him as he returned to college coaching ranks after six years in the NFL. "That’s when I first came here to this campus and saw everything," Salgado said. "I used to say, ‘this would be a pretty neat place to coach.’ I ended up going to Buffalo, and that’s where I was for the last six years. When this opportunity came, I was like, ‘okay, this is it.’"
