Michigan State landed another transfer portal commitment, this time in former BYU linebacker/edge rusher Aisea Moa.

Moa (6-2, 240) is a versatile, hybrid defender. He was buried in the BYU depth chart behind older linebackers, but carved out a reserve role where he logged 16 total tackles and a forced fumble in 2024. Moa saw time in all 12 games with the Cougars, making one start on the season.

He and his family spent Jan. 3 in East Lansing for an official visit. Moa was joined by his younger brother, Salesi Moa on the visit. The younger brother is ranked a top-25 recruit in the 2026 class. He was offered by Michigan State on the trip, as the Spartans join Oregon, Utah, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, and more.

The linebacker/edge rusher ranks as the No. 81 edge rusher in the transfer portal according to On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings. Moa played high school football at Ogden (UT) Weber High School, where he was a four-star prospect in the 2022 class.

Michigan State will return experienced linebackers Jordan HallWayne Matthews, and Darius Snow in 2025, in addition to emerging young linebackers in Marcellius PulliamBrady Pretzlaff, Semaj Bridgeman, and others. Michigan State also signed a pair of three-star high school recruits in the class of 2025 in Charles White and DiMari Malone.

Aisea represents Michigan State’s 14th transfer portal commitment of the cycle. The linebacker joins five fellow defensive additions: defensive end Anelu Lafaele (Wisconsin), cornerback Joshua Eaton (Texas State), cornerback NiJhay Burt (Eastern Illinois), cornerback Malcolm Bell (UConn, EDGE rusher David Santiago (Air Force) and defensive tackle Grady Kelly (Florida State).

Michigan State also holds three wide receiver commitments from Chrishon McCoy (Kent State), Omari Kelly (Middle Tennessee State), and Evan Boyd (Central Michigan).

The Spartans also hold commitments from former Sacramento State running back Elijah Tau-Tolliver and offensive linemen Caleb Carter (Western Carolina), Luka Vincic (Oregon State) and Matt Gulbin (Wake Forest).
